The club’s rule is simple: anyone who turns up can play. In twelve months, membership has grown from 90 to more than 200, with the biggest increase among teenage girls.
Why it matters
Sport at the grassroots is about far more than results. It builds confidence, friendships and healthier communities.
On the ground
Our reporting draws on interviews with residents, officials and independent experts, alongside public documents reviewed by the Newslora sport desk. Where figures are quoted, they come from published sources that readers can check.
What happens next
The club is raising money for floodlights so it can run sessions through the winter.
“Nobody should need to be good at sport before they are allowed to enjoy it.”
